HARRISON RUSH & FIREDRILL 360 INVESTMENT BANKING RECRUITING NEWS
MARKET UPDATE
Last week's market update referred to the lateral hiring market as challenging. Over the past week, things have slowly improved, but for the time of year it remains slow. In normal years, this time of year would be the busy season. Bankers are busy with new projects or dusting off deals that were put on hold. Closing deals remains a hurdle and all too often they die at the board level. Employed bankers are hesitant to leave a safe seat for an uncertain one and banks are slow to hire the unemployed. This contributes to a slow and frustrating recruiting market. An uptick in M&A volumes will jump start the recruiting market.
WORDS OF WISDOM
Being unemployed can prove to be one of the most emotional and challenging events in our lifetime. It can create overwhelming feelings of fear and anxiety. Keep the following in mind:
-
All these emotions are temporary.
-
You will find a job.
-
Your next job might even be better than your last one.
-
Get healthy-work out.
-
Take care or your mental and spiritual health-therapy, meditation, religious and community organizations can all help.
-
Do not rely on just yourself. Ask for help.
