HARRISON RUSH FIRE DRILL 360 INVESTMENT BANKING RECRUITING NEWS

MARKET UPDATE

With rates still high, deal making remains slow. Clients are targeting smaller deals in the 15-30MM dollar range. There is a lot of marketing activity right now but getting deals to close is the hurdle. Being in a tech, healthcare or industrials group at a premiere middle market, elite boutique or bulge bracket will be the best place to be when things pick back up.

Ihsan Essaid has replaced Gary Posternack as the new Global Head of M&A at Barclays. Mr. Posternack will remain at Barclays as chairman of global M&A.

Stephen Pick was named Head of M&A in the EMEA at Barclays. Mr. Pick will report to Mr. Essaid.

Senior JP Morgan deal maker Andy Lipsky is leaving JP Morgan for Morgan Stanley.

JP Morgan banker Haidee Lee is also leaving JP Morgan for Goldman Sachs.

Most of the recruiting activity has been at the senior levels in 2024 as banks jockey for fees and are less concerned with execution support.

Correction to last week's Wrap Up: Senior Leverage Finance banker is Alexandra ("Alex") Barth, not Alexander. Ms. Barth left Deutsche Bank where she co-headed leveraged finance for Wells Fargo.

WORDS OF WISDOM

If you are employed, you need to be thinking long term. The market is going to pick up again and now is a good time to assess whether you are properly positioned for the coming rebound.
