A Brief, Reliable, Rundown of the Investment Banking Recruiting Market.

August 05, 2024

MARKET UPDATE

The lateral hiring market continues to improve. We are seeing an increase in new job openings at the associate and VP level. The director level remains soft as does the VP3 and SVP level. There is a market for VP3 candidates who will come in as VP2’s or VP2’s as VP1. Many current associates and VP1’s do not have a lot of closed M&A deal experience so hiring more senior VPs as VP2s and VP1s makes sense for banks. Once the market shifts to a candidate centered environment it will be harder to get candidates to take a step back. It will be a employer centered market for at least the next six to nine months.
