A Brief, Reliable, Rundown of the Investment Banking Recruiting Market.

November 11, 2024

HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO THE 16.2 MILLION VETS IN THE UNITED STATES

MARKET UPDATE

We are coming off one of modern history's most extended dry spells of M&A activity. We expect M&A activity to come back in a big way in 2025. The shadow of antitrust regulation is disappearing after the 2024 Presidential Election. Less antitrust regulation combined with lower rates and a soaring stock market are creating the conditions ripe for a resurgence in M&A.

Finding execution talent will become more difficult in 2025. This will be due to an uptick in deal activity. It is also because the new administration will be cracking down on immigration. It will be much more complicated, if not impossible, for banks to hire candidates on work visas. Banks will have their hands full trying to hire employees who are not currently citizens of the United States.
